Uma, Sruthi, and Mohan

Uma and Mohan warmly invite you and your family to join them in celebrating the Kuchipudi Arangetram of their daughter, Sruthi Mohankumar, beloved disciple of Guru Smt. Keerthanna Jothiraman.

About Kuchipudi

Kuchipudi is one of India’s major classical dance traditions, originating from the village of Kuchipudi in Andhra Pradesh. Rooted in the ancient Natya Shastra, it is known for its graceful movements, intricate rhythmic footwork, and expressive storytelling. Through dance, music, and drama, Kuchipudi brings to life stories from Hindu mythology and India’s rich cultural heritage.

What is an Arangetram?

The word Arangetram means “ascending the stage.” It is the debut solo performance of a classical Indian dance student after years of dedicated training under the guidance of a guru. This significant milestone marks the dancer’s readiness to perform independently before an audience and reflects years of discipline, perseverance, and artistic growth.

More than a performance, an Arangetram is a celebration of tradition, learning, and the enduring bond between guru and disciple. It is also an occasion to honor the love, encouragement, and blessings of family, friends, teachers, and well-wishers who have supported the dancer throughout this remarkable journey.
